I drag myself out of bed, get dressed, and apply some light makeup. I’m usually completely non-functional before a cup of hot coffee in the morning, but my realization about who starred in my dreams last night has done more to get my adrenaline pumping than any espresso ever could.

I check my appearance in the bathroom mirror and snap a quick selfie. I look professional. I look good. I even feel good—not good enough to face Carter this morning, though. He’s likely expecting to share an Uber this morning, but I’m not quite ready to face him after last night—both the dream and the real experiences. I text him my plans.
